Teddy Bears On Tour Update

Well it's taken a while - teddy bears can become unpredictably busy for months on end - but... hopefully... this coming week will see them finally arrive on the scene, on Tuesday or Wednesday I'm guessing.

Then on Thursday I will go to Amsterdam for the day, just to make Trade 14 official!

Maybe I'll take a bear with me, we'll see...

Trade 18 Official!

I can now let the proverbial cat out of the bag...

I traded The Chance To Collaborate With Singer-Songwriter Jody Gnant to a friend and fan of Jody Gnant, a guy in Portugal known by the nickname Izzyrider in Jody's livestream chat room. In fact, even I don't know Izzyrider's real name, because he wishes to remain anonymous.

In return, Izzyrider traded me a brand new Tom Tom portable GPS navigation system - a.k.a. satnav in some parts - specifically the model TomTom ONE XL Traffic (Europe).

The trade became official tonight when Izzyrider informed Jody via her chat room.

Jody was over the moon, well clear of it too I can tell you, unless I was mistaken...

Jody Gnant gets the Trade 18 scoop

So come on - who wants to trade me something for a fantastic brand new GPS/satnav?!

As always, ALL offers welcome...

I Won Another Jody Gnant Giveaway Prize!!

I just happened to be around when Jody held one of her Saturday "giveaways" (at www.jodygnant.com), on, er, Saturday.

And I was first to answer one of the questions correctly, so I won another super prize!

Yep, I won some fridge magnet dress-up dolls! (I think!) and also Jody's first album (I believe) "Treasure Quest" (for sale here) on CD!

According to Jody I won these prizes for my daughter, who Jody knows as "Me Me".

Of course, I argued energetically that I'd won them for me at first, but eventually accepted Jody's version.

Trade Agreed!!

I just agreed to trade The Chance To Collaborate With Singer-Songwriter Jody Gnant!

There is still a small chance this trade will not work out as intended, as is always the case, but I think this trade will very probably fly... so I'm more than a little excited!!

The details will have to wait at least a few days, I can't reveal any more before then, so...

That's All For Now Folks!

Luke Again (Trade 17)

John made his move for Speedy the Llama on December 5th, 2007, submitting his offer with the form:

Hi there,
I am offering an extremely rare set of Honda NSR250 MC21 Original Race Exhaust Pipes, no cans.
They go onto this rare machine http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/images/nsr250-91.jpg
And are worth a small fortune.
Let me know!
John

My knowledge of rare motorbikes is not good, I have to say, but this unusual offer still caught my attention.

Next I needed to know what John had in mind for Speedy, especially as John lives in England (Oldham, near Manchester), and Speedy lives in Wisconsin, USA... so I asked, and John replied:

Hi Andrew,
I might have a better deal for you. You can keep hold of Speedy and I will give you the NSR250 pipes for free!
Thanks John

I didn't like the sound of this at all. I've heard the "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true" adage sooooo many times...

So I sweetened the deal for John, by offering him the air guitar instead of nothing, which he accepted.

With this simple manoeuvre, I felt pretty confident I massively reduced the likelihood of a "probably is too good to be true" type of trade from happening.

Brilliant, I know.

Turned out John is a good friend of rocking Trade 8 Luke*, which is how he found out about this. And funnily enough, they had been talking about it over beers saying wouldn't it be funny if John got the air guitar in the deal...

* not to be confused with air guitar Trade 15 Luke, who is in fact a dog. Or a tiger.

Quite a few weeks passed before we found a window to do the trade, but eventually the day arrived - Tuesday February 5th, 2008 - and, after taking nearly three hours the evening before to locate the air guitar, I made my way over to and finally found John's near-impossible-to-find-even-with-a-good-Internet-map place. Of course, I kept the car windows closed for the whole journey - air guitars can be lost with even the smallest lapse in concentration, never to be seen again.

In my experience air guitars can also be a challenge in that a lot of people think they are just air. So I issued John with a special certificate, which I hope will help sway such naysayers...

Trade 17 Air Guitar Certificate

We got straight down to business, I set the timer on the tripod-mounted camera and we did the Trade 17...

Trade 17

John talked with a lot of pride about his Honda NSR250 MC21, so rare a machine that he is not aware of any others existing in the whole of Greater Manchester. The exhaust pipes John was offering me were spare, doing nothing, so John decided they could be used to help me toward my Rolls Royce or a Bentley, which of course I appreciate big time!

And he explained that these are stock road exhausts, part of the gear needed to make your Honda NSR250 MC21 racing bike road legal!

Trading them on will probably be a challenge, of course, because so few people would actually need them. John realises this, and suggested they could be used for something else, e.g. to help make lamp shades or some other craft or metal work for example.

So there it is, one set of Honda NSR250 MC21 stock road exhausts added to the mix. If you want to offer me something "bigger/better" for them and/or any other item I have up for a trade, please go ahead! (give me a shout or fill the form)

ALL offers welcome...

Stop The Clocks!

Don't forget there are 29 instead of the usual 28 days this February.

And although the year 2100 will also be a leap year, please note there will be 28 days in February of that year, not 29, if I remember right. For some reason.

Hard enough to remember stuff like that, even harder I imagine if your watch is convinced it's the 33rd of January on the 2nd of February...

Gerard's Amazing Swiss Watch!

And Swiss made too! (Thanks very much Gerard for sending that)

So I introduced RSS Feeds over the weekend - hence all those funny buttons have suddenly appeared on the right - so, for example, you won't have to keep checking back for blog updates if you choose to subscribe - check it all out here!

And Teddy Bears On Tour I am now hopeful will finally get going this month. I might even take some bears to Amsterdam on 28th, when I hope to meet up with Jody Gnant to make Trade 14 official!

Oops, I hope I didn't give too much away there.
